Role Description/Criteria
The College invites applications from energetic, committed and suitably qualified teachers who are interested in undertaking this pastoral leadership role.
This is an ongoing teaching position starting in January 2025. The appointment to the leadership role is initially for two years.
The College is phasing in a sixth stream due to increased enrolment demand but continues to be a relatively small secondary school, where each student and staff member is known, valued and connected.Ìý
With the Year 7 Pastoral Care teachers, the Year 7 Level Leader is responsible for the care and wellbeing of students, and the policies, programs and activities that contribute to this. They work with students, staff and families to ensure a smooth transition into secondary and that everyone experiences welcome, respect, safety and a deep sense of belonging. Their work is given impetus by the College motto, Love one another as I have loved you, the College values, an unwavering belief in the inherent dignity of each person, and a commitment to ensuring that students have every opportunity to be the best they can be.
An understanding of Restorative Practices and/or the Berry Street Education Model would be an advantage.
Our staff are well supported through a strong collegial and collaborative staff culture; good systems for Performance Development and Coaching; well documented curriculum and teaching resources; clear whole school practices; and individual and whole school professional learning.
Postgraduate study is encouraged and the College contributes towards course fees for teachers undertaking studies. This includes 100% of course costs for study in Religious Education, Theology and areas linked to the School Improvement Plan, and 50% of costs in other areas. As Wellbeing for Learning continues to be a key focus for school improvement, postgraduate study in Wellbeing would attract full funding.
Applications from primary trained teachers interested in working in secondary would be very welcome..Ìý
