Role Description/Criteria

St John the Apostle Catholic Primary School is located in Tarneit and our vision states:

We are currently seeking a Learning Support Officer who is able to commence Term 1, 2025.Ìý Successful applicants will work with students in a range of settings, including individually, in small groups and within learning centres.Ìý

Our Learning Support OfficersÌýwork in partnership with teachers and the Learning Diversity Leader, to implement the adjustments outlined for students in their Personalised LearningÌýPlans (PLPs).Ìý

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an ability to:

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff and students
  • Provide support to individuals or small groups of students with learning and/or social-emotional challenges
  • Show initiative and be resourceful solving problems, when required
  • Possess a high level of patience and emotional maturity in order to manage students with significant levels of learning or behavioural challenges
  • Teach Intervention Programs as assigned and record session notes
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the work of Catholic schools and a willingness to actively contribute to a range of school activities
  • Be prepared to assist with toileting and other health needs
  • Refer all parental concerns and requests to the class teacher for decisions

Special Requirements

The successful applicant should have:

  • Certificate III or IV in Education SupportÌý
  • Previous primary school experience in this role is a distinct advantage
  • Confident using ICT
  • Current Police and Working With Children Check

    Child Safety: Be familiar with and comply with the schools child safe policy and code of conduct and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety.

    Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. You must reside, and have the right to work, in Australia – overseas applicants will not be considered for this role.
